As I am deeply saddened by Daniel’s sudden passing, I am also immensely appreciative of the legacy that he has left us. Even in his illness, he continued to think of the Tin Shui Wai Project. Despite the pain and fatigue from chemotherapy, he called me several times to suggest ways for the project to counter the pandemic. One time when he called, I glanced at my watch. My local time was 4:00 pm, then I realized it was only 3:00 am in Hong Kong.
Daniel spent his entire career, even in retirement, in public service. Hong Kong is a better place because of people like him. I am truly privileged to have worked with him in the past few years. May he rest in peace. The volunteers of Tin Shui Wai Project will soldier on to continue his good work.
