Thanks to the support of both WYPSAs, our project in TSW has progressed well and coming Oct. we shall start our 6th and 2nd intake of under-privileged students for our onsite and online tutorials respectively. As such, we need your help again to recruit new tutors from the WY community to fill vacancies for those alumni who want to take a break.
The continuous success of our project depends on our ability to come up with sufficient volunteer tutors who can sacrifice their free time to help the needy and, at the same time, uphold the ‘Men for and with Others’ spirit we have inherited from our Jesuit education. Since our project has two programs, the onsite and online tutorials, alumni can either go to TSW to teach general English or stay in the comfort of their home to teach online oral English. A briefing session for new tutors will be held on Sat. 2 Sept. from 3 to 430 pm at the Common Room of WYK and all are welcome to attend. Past tutors will also be on hand to share their experience.
You will be interested to know that we shall add a third program to our project starting from Oct. this year. A group of WYK alumni plans to provide career talks and job attachments in specific fields of interest to our TSW Form 6 students who will be looking for work after graduation. Without family support and connection, they bitterly need help to find and secure jobs. We hope this new program will help them better understand the various occupations and choices available to them, increase their ability and competitiveness in hunting for jobs that match with their interest and personality, and hopefully help them strive for upward mobility in the long term.
