華仁校友兩年前成立天水圍義教計劃向基層學生教授英語。 20170312 華仁校友義教基層英文 【本報訊】有華仁書院校友於兩年前成立天水圍義教計劃，向區內基層學生提供免費英語教學。計劃創辦人麥華雄表示，選取天水圍區內學校作義教，是了解到該區地理偏遠，缺乏支援，故決定為區內的基層中學生免費開設英語班。計劃至今兩周年，現有50位熱心校友參與計劃，先後為10間中學提供免費英語班，至今有逾600人次的基層學生受惠。 1979年畢業於九龍華仁書院的Telly是義教導師，他指義教工作絕不容易，回想起第一次到學校上課時，課室內竟只得一位學生，「嗰吓真係好頭痛！」作為傳統名校生，他認為不少天水圍的基層學生甚具天份，只是起步點較遲，需要更多幫助以發掘潛能。Telly亦選擇趣味教學，透過英語歌曲及猜謎遊戲，令學生接納英語，找回學習的信心。 鼓勵學生擺脫自卑感 已退休校友Stephen亦是義教導師之一，過去曾在補習社兼職教書，但因受薪所以有責任協助學生「拎高分」，惟義教則可按學生興趣，提高學習動力。義教計劃亦包含導師人生經驗分享，他舉例，有部份學生對於其成長環境感自卑，「我會分享自己細個生活環境，畀啲鼓勵佢哋」。 天水圍官立中學校長郭建華指，學生在參與計劃後，英語能力有顯著提升，而義教亦包含生涯規劃分享，更能就學生的成長生活帶來啟發。 [Source: Apple Daily]
