Started in 2015 by a group of 1971 WYHK alumni, the Tin Shui Wai English
Tutorial Program has served over 2,600 under-privileged Form 2 to Form 5
secondary school students from 20 schools in Tin Shui Wai and Kwai Chung
(after subsequent expansion) since its inception. Over the years, some 80
volunteer tutors from both WYHK and WYK have taken part in this program,
with alumni in Hong Kong giving on-site tutorials on weekdays after school
and Saturday mornings, and overseas alumni giving weekly on-line tutorials.
Although the on-site tutorial program suffered a hiatus during COVID 19, we
continued to teach through online Zoom during that difficult period. We
resumed normal on-site operation in the 2022/23 school year, and are
currently serving 3 schools in Tin Shui Wai and 4 schools in Kwai Chung with
close to 100 students benefitting. With the help of WYHKPSA, we also went
through a new round of tutor recruitment in middle of 2023 and enrolled three
new volunteer tutors.
