It is the second year in a row that the Tin Shui Wai Government Secondary School organized the Career Expo by inviting career mentors from 22 professions to share work experiences with the students from S4 to S6. We participated in this year’s Expo through four volunteer mentors in the fields of disciplinary services and physiotherapy. As mentors entered the school hall for the opening ceremony, attended by all the S4 to S6 students, we were greeted by applause from students, and presented with souvenir hand made by parents as a token of appreciation for our time and effort. The mentors then conducted 2 sessions of sharing, each with a small group of 15 to 20 students.
The small group format facilitates interactive discussion between mentor and students, and students were enthusiastic in asking questions. Hopefully students will be inspired to pursue their career goals through the mentors who act as role models for their career planning.
